Presbicia: ¿hacia dónde vamos?
Introducción
:
L

Early childhood preservice teachers and professional noticing
This study focuses on professional noticing of early childhood preservice teachers. In particular, I try to explore particular aspects that lead them to select a specific child‟s work and how they interpret the selected work. Methodologically, the research is situated within the interpretive tradition in educational research. Participants were 23 early childhood preservice teachers from a Faculty of Education at a large university in Spain. The findings help to characterize different ways of noticing children‟s works, and the difficulties of relating these characterizations with their academic background in general, and mathematical background in particular. In addition, they provide insight into how future teachers give meaning to instructional situations

From the classroom to an opinion note: complementary analysis of the genetic structure of the neotropical tree manilkara zapota (L) P. Royen (Sapotaceae)
Here, we describe a learning strategy that results an excellent choice for a first approach of students to produce scientific knowledge that can be confronted in the scientific field as well as recognize in this knowledge the transferability to the natural resources management. Nowadays, the availability of several Population Genetics software together with public molecular database represents a valuable tool of great assistance for teachers of this discipline. In this way, we implemented a lecture where the students worked with empirical data set from a recent published article. The students joined theoretical concepts learned, computational software free available and empirical data set. The development of the activity comprised four steps: i) estimate population genetics parameters using software recommended by teachers, ii) understand results in a biological sense, iii) read the original manuscript from dataset authors and iv) compare both results in a comprehensive way. The students assumed the challenge under a reflective look and they kept a very fruitful discussion playing a role of population geneticists. Their exchange of ideas allowed them arrive to the conclusion that Manilkara zapota populations keep high levels of genetic diversity, although Ancient Maya left traces in the genetic makeup of these non-native populations with different management histories.Fil: Barrandeguy, Maria Eugenia.

About assessing the learning of students with dyscalculia
Dyscalculia is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects to the capacity for calculation, interfering with the academic performance, the level of social inclusion, the access to the working world, and especially in the realization, both personal and professional of the people who suffer it. This learning disability is nearly as common as dyslexia, nevertheless, it is studied much less, and it is worse understood, and so many times it is diagnosed inconsistently. With regard to academic performance, efforts are being made to improve learning, both at the level of the emerging scientific field of educational neuroscience and from the point of view of education. However, to date, scientists have only been studying how to help children affected by dyscalculia to develop new brain strategies that aim to improve their learning without taking into account the way to evaluate these learning. Through the exploration of subjacent neurocognitive processes inherent to practice and educational theory, the main objective of this work is to analyse the possible difference in the brain function of affected individuals with dyscalculia in the performance of evaluation tests in order to find the best way to be evaluated, to intervene in the strengthening of arithmetic processing and to improve their performance and self-esteem. The methodology used to achieve the desired goal is to analyse the activity of the brain during computation and answering test questions by using evoked potentials and to check with the dyscalculic students as they reasoned during the performing tests comparing them with students who do not have this learning difficulty. After the analysis carried out, we concluded that to evaluate students with dyscalculia, the test type should be avoided and must use alternative evaluation methods such as the oral examination, while at the same time allowing certain actions that can help them. Due to the difficulty of learning about the people who suffer this difficulty, the probability of them responding poorly in this kind of evaluation, regardless of the knowledge of the subject it is very high, so the result of the test is not valid to assess your learning, which is the final objective of the testPostprint (author's final draft
Family education and support for families at psychosocial risk in Europe: Evidence from a survey of international experts
First published online: 11 October 2018There is overwhelming consensus among policy makers, academics, and professionals about the need to support families in their childrearing tasks. Consequently, European countries have been encouraged to develop family support interventions aimed at guaranteeing children's rights, targeting particularly those children in situations of psychosocial risk. While a certain amount of evidence exists regarding how family support is generally delivered in certain European countries, with a particular focus on parenting initiatives, this paper aims to take existing evidence one step further by providing an updated review focusing on two core components of the Council of Europe's Recommendation on Positive Parenting: families at psychosocial risk as the target population, and family education and support initiatives as the delivery format. The scope of the study was therefore broad, in both geographical and conceptual terms. An online survey was conducted with experts from 19 European countries to gather information regarding how they perceive family education and support initiatives for families at psychosocial risk. Both quantitative and qualitative data were analysed by computing frequencies/percentages and by following a thematic synthesis method, respectively. The results revealed both similarities and disparities as regards provider profiles, intervention characteristics, and quality standards. Practical implications are discussed, such as the need to diversify initiatives for at‐risk families in accordance with the tenets of progressive universalism, the ongoing need for an evidence‐based, pluralistic approach to programmes, and the skills and qualifications required in the family support workforce. This study constitutes a first step towards building a common family support framework at a European level, which would encompass family support and parenting policies aimed at families at psychosocial risk.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad de España EDU2013‐41441‐
